The De Beers Sightholder Sales department is responsible for the cleaning, sorting, grading, and selling of the diamonds that they receive from their various mines. This process is dependent on a large number of assets and was rather manual and inefficient.

The De Beers team partnered with FLEX Digital to help streamline this process. Our smaRTE Assets solution was first deployed to track their various IT equipment, using RFID technology.

Furthermore, our smaRTE Stock solution has been implemented to provide real-time tracking and tracing of the cages, containers, and briefcases that the diamonds are transported in, using BLE technology. This provides substantial improvements in the real-time monitoring, management, and security of these assets, which has unlocked an extra 2 hours per day of production time.

FLEX Digital has been contracted to design and deploy a bespoke "smaRTE Stock" solution that provides real-time visibility of every parcel that is packed as part of their eCommerce fulfilment process, leveraging our RFID technology. This solution assists the Massmart team to act quickly and concisely, whenever an exception is detected, to minimise any delays and maximise their On-Time Delivery performance.

WeBuyCars (WBC) had been battling with a major operational challenge for over 4 years, with no realistic solution, until they engaged with FLEX Digital. Each of their sales warehouses around the country has over 1,000 vehicles in them at any one time.
Manually identifying and counting each vehicle on a daily basis was inaccurate and was wasting about 2 hours per day for their sales staff, instead of them spending that valuable time with customers. Also, managing the movement of these vehicles in-and-out of each warehouse in an efficient and secure manner, was proving to be a huge challenge.
Having explored various other avenues, they entrusted FLEX Digital to solve these challenges for them. We deployed our RFID stock management solution to substantially improve their stock visibility, tracking, and accuracy, while also automating and streamlining their vehicle-and-staff access control in/out of their facilities.

takealot.com is South Africa’s largest, most innovative ecommerce retailer, with over 2000 employees. At the core of everything they do is their customer. They are passionate about providing great customer experiences, beginning with the moment you land on their site or app, until the product you order is delivered safely into your hands.
As part of this vision, the Takealot team has endeavoured to constantly improve their logistics processes with the aim to constantly improve on their customer experience. Streamlining and automating the scheduling and management of their fleet of drivers and vehicles was a critical focus for them. Until now, the tasks of scheduling, assigning, and notifying drivers, linking them to the correct routes, vehicles, and keys, as well as quickly issuing the relevant parcels, and enabling a speedy dispatch was all performed manually with spreadsheets, WhatsApp, and physical pieces of paper.
Takealot decided to put their faith in the FLEX Digital team to build a digital solution, leveraging our powerful cloud-based platform and mobile application capabilities. The entire driver management workflow, from driver scheduling, to site access, key and vehicle allocation, parcel dispatch, delivery, and returns was completely digitised, centralised, and automated by FLEX Digital.
The resulted in significantly improved management, visibility, accountability, and speed of parcel delivery, which meant a much improved customer experience.

Since the advent of COVID, the FirstRand Group has migrated to a hybrid working culture where staff can work from home and the office. This has led to a significant rise in controls required around their large number of assets that are either supposed to remain in the offices, or move in-and-out of the buildings. These include PC's, laptops, monitors, and other IT equipment, as well as desks, chairs, and even artwork.
The FirstRand Group engaged with FLEX Digital to assist them to provide better management and tracking of these assets. Our smaRTE Assets solution was implemented, using a combination of RFID and BLE technologies. This has allowed the FirstRand team to perform quick and accurate daily stock-takes of non-moveable assets, as well as enforce better control of how moveable assets are moving in-and-out of their buildings. BLE-based tamper sensors are also placed on their valuable artwork to alarm if they are being removed without authorisation.

Inkosi Albert Luthuli Central Hospital in Durban, Kwazulu Natal is the largest public hospital in the province. The hospital has formed a public-private partnership with AME Africa Healthcare (Pty) Ltd. to ensure all the hospital's assets are managed effectively to enable it to deliver the best healthcare service possible.
Part of this initiative is to digitise the entire hospital's operations and eliminate the dependency on paperwork. Ensuring that all the critical assets, used to deliver the required patient care, are always available for the doctors was top of their agenda. Knowing exactly where every asset is at any time, being alerted if these assets move out their designated wards, and alerting if assets leave a ward without the proper authorisations, became critical to their success.
FLEX Digital was employed to leverage our smaRTE Assets solution, based on our BLE technology, to tag and track their high-risk, moveable assets in real-time throughout the hospital. This enabled the AME Africa team to substantially improve their visibility, tracking and control of these assets, ensuring all patients are not left waiting to be treated because the doctors cannot find the necessary assets to perform their bedside treatment.

SA Biomedical Group is a leading distributor of orthopaedic, spinal, surgical, and vascular medical devices in the South African healthcare industry, known for its extensive experience and focus on improving patient outcomes through partnerships and sustainable healthcare delivery.
SA Biomedical stocks and distributes thousands of medical devices, prosthetics, and consumables to hospitals around the country on a daily basis. Managing and tracking this large quantity of inventory is a major challenge and cannot be performed effectively in a manual fashion.
FLEX Digital was contracted to design, build, and deploy a customised stock management solution, leveraging RFID technology. The aim was to assist the SA Biomedical team to perform regular, quick, and accurate stock takes, as well as locate specific items of stock quickly in their various warehouses. They also needed to dispatch stock orders, receive stock back, and book stock back into the warehouse in an automated fashion, minimising unnecessary manual tasks. An integration with their NetSuite ERP system was critical to the success of this project to enable seamless, immediate data transfer and system updates.
FLEX Digital's smaRTE Stock solution, customised for SA Biomedical, has significantly improved the company's ability to count, track, view, and managed their stock nationwide, and consequently service their hospital clients substantially better than before, and far better than their competitors.

Solenco sources and distributes international award-winning air treatment and lifestyle products from their warehouse is in Port Elizabeth. Their customers are many of South Africa’s leading lifestyle retailers such as Yuppiechef, Builders Warehouse, Clicks, Hirschs, etc. Solenco print RFID labels at their warehouse in Port Elizabeth. The labels are then couriered to their suppliers overseas who apply the pre-printed and encoded labels to the products on Solenco’s behalf. The RFID labled products are then shipped in a container via sea to Port Elizabeth. On arrival of the container, Solenco use an RFID handheld reader to receive the shipment to item level quickly and accurately. Solenco are also using RFID to perform regular stock takes, and locate specific units in the warehouse, as well as ensuring 100% picking and dispatch accuracy.

Cape Town Infusion Centre (CTIC) is Southern Africa’s largest specialised high risk infusion centre focusing on inflammatory bowel disease and anaemia. Upholding the governance surrounding these highly specialised infusions is extremely administrative and labour intensive. CTIC have adopted RPA to reduce the burden of mundane and repetitive administrative load on their infusion staff, which has allowed them to focus on the patients and ensure that they can provide the highest level of care.

GvH Landscapes employs a small fleet of vehicles to transport staff and products from their garden route base near Plettenberg Bay to and from their numerous clients. Tracking and managing the movement of these vehicles was a significant challenge. The aim was to track and manage their fleet in real-time to reduce fuel and usage costs, as well as bill their clients accurately, based on time-on-site. The FLEX smaRTE Assets solution for fleet management was deployed with great success, reducing their fuel and usage costs by a monthly average of 25%, while ensuring 100% accurate billing of clients.

Socrati is an exclusive ladies' & men's footwear, belts & bags retailer that imports their products from the catwalks of Italy, Greece, Turkey & Brazil. They offer their limited edition products through an online eCommerce platform, as well as 7 stores in the Gauteng province of South Africa.
Socrati had a significant challenge around stock accuracy and inter-branch transfers. These processes were manual, inconsistent, and inaccurate. FLEX Digital was employed to assist with the deployment of an RFID solution to enable 100% accurate, weekly stock counts, as well as a digital process to ensure 100% dispatch and receiving accuracy between the various stores and the warehouse. The additional benefit of the solution was a sizeable reduction in shrinkage and loss.

Harley Davidson is the most desirable motorcycle and lifestyle brand in the world, buying and selling new and pre-owned bikes, as well as offering a rental option. In addition to this, the company also sells motorcycle accessories, mens' and womens' clothing and apparel, as well as collectables. Finally, they also service bikes and provide spare parts. This results in a large amount of stock that the company has to manage on a daily basis, which presents a number of challenges and risks to the operational team.
FLEX Digital was contracted to deploy an RFID-based stock accuracy and stock security solution in their Cape Town and Durban branches. This solution enables weekly stock-takes in each store with 100% accuracy, as well as automated security checks at the entry/exit doors to minimise stock theft.

PACE car rental had a major challenge managing the 6,000+ keys for their fleet of vehicles. They were struggling to perform quick and accurate stock takes, locating keys, as well as controlling and tracking the access to these keys.
FLEX Digital was entrusted to provide a smaRTE Key Room solution that combined RFID technology with our AI-driven access control solution. The results were phenomenal. Stock takes reduced from 3 days once per month, to 3 minutes daily and the accuracy improved from approximately 60% to 99%. Finding specific keys reduced from days to minutes and the management of who took what keys at what times became far more accurate, which enabled the leadership team to hold staff more accountable. Also, PACE is now able to bill their clients more accurately when there is a call-out for spare keys, as this is now much more auditable.
